Join Green Calgary for a workshop at Kinglsand Farmers Market covering the basics of indoor and outdoor composting. This 90 minute session will outline what is needed to create good quality compost, as well as the do’s and don’ts of composting. You’ll learn about:

* what can be added and
what should be avoided
* the difference between
greens and browns
* adequate moisture
* turning frequency
* avoiding smell and pests
* using compost in the yard and garden
* the various types of composting systems including
Bokashi, Vermicomposting (worms), and outdoor composters

The workshop will have plenty of time for questions and discussion. If you’re new to composting or you’re discouraged by your results and would like to improve, this workshop is for you!

Green Calgary will also have a booth at the market from 9am to 5pm (Saturday only) where we’ll be selling the various composters (ourdoor and Bokashi) and accessories (kitchen catchers and wingdiggers) to make composting easier, as well as taking orders for Red Wiggler Worms for those wishing to try their hands at Vermicomposting!
